This province is considered as a mountainous region, because more than 70% of the area of this province is covered by mountains and short and high altitudes, as well as plains and high valleys. The mountains of this region, which are a continuation of the Zagros Mountains, extend northeast to southeast to the waters of the Persian Gulf and gradually decrease in height. Various dialects of Bandari dialect (from the heirs of Middle and Ancient Persian) which is one of the sub-branches of Persian language, constitute the language of the people of Hormozgan.
